McCarthy and Bullock bring the ‘Heat’

If you’re looking for a good laugh, The Heat might just be the movie for you. I was laughing constantly throughout the film. This movie keeps viewers attached to the screen.
The film starts out with FBI Special Agent Sarah Ashburn, played by Sandra Bullock, finding out that she is available for a promotion. She is transferred to Boston to try to take down a drug lord known as Mr. Larkin. She has a run-in shortly upon arriving with Boston cop Shannon Mullins. Melissa McCarthy plays Mullins, who also is working on the Larkin case.
Instantly, Ashburn and Mullins start bumping heads. Ashburn is a by-the-book agent, while Mullins seems to get things done her own way. Ashburn is told she must work alongside Mullins if she wants to be considered for the promotion.
Together, the duo take on the challenge of taking down Larkin. They constantly bicker about the way they should go about things and cannot seem to agree. But with both of their skills combined, they manage to work surprisingly well as a team.

Mullins will have you falling out of your chair with her foul-mouthed comments. McCarthy is perfect for this role. She delivers her performance with confidence.
The comedy does not fall short in this movie. Bullock also does an outstanding job playing her character. She is not as comedic as McCarthy but still has the ability to make you laugh.
Her performance is well put together, which shows throughout the film. Together the actors help balance each other’s roles out.
The bar scene is unforgettable. Mullins and Ashburn take a little time off to have a few drinks. They start taking shots and drinking a little more than they should. They are dancing, gambling and having a good time. I could not stop laughing the entire scene.
Director Paul Feig knew what he was doing when he selected the two main actresses for this movie. Bullock and McCarthy feed off each other, and that’s what makes this movie so great. The only thing viewers should be aware of is the language in the movie. They have no mercy about what comes out of their mouths. If you do not mind the language, then this movie is a must-see. I give The Heat, now on DVD, a 9 on a 10-point scale.
